From the Vault: Butter London Victoriana

Butter London Victoriana

Victoriana is a dusty teal with silver shimmer. Something about it reminds me of foggy days, because it's kind of gloomy, in a way. I like it for those days where I don't feel like wearing a bright, obnoxious polish. It's also quite unique in my opinion. I don't have anything like it in my collection, and I can't think of a dupe for it off the top of my head, either.
In regards to consistency and application, I had another great experience with this Butter London polish. This brand is surely becoming a favorite!

SMS Annual Car Show & Open House 09/17/11

SMS Supercars, Corona

This car won about 10 trophies. It was ridiculous! Oh, if you look through the left window--it's the creep from the Motion Auto Show! (You have to scroll about halfway down the Night-Import page to see what I'm talking about--it's like the 50th picture.) I totally knew he looked familiar!
I didn't purposely get a picture of him by the way! I was just going through my shots when I found him in this one LOL.

Paintjob is LOVE. Deep, bright purple awesomeness.

This car was super trippy. We saw it as it was rolling in, and you could see the purple/teal color of the paintjob shift right before your very eyes. I want a duochrome nail polish like this!

I think this pink paintjob would look sick on an Evo. I couldn't capture the true color of this one. It's a lot brighter in person!

The unveiled car.

Apart from the lot, there were a bunch of things on display in the building.

The garage was open to the public, where they had several cars to be worked on.

My friend brought his spoiler to get it signed by Steve Saleen, who was doing factory tours and autographing posters and vehicles.

Is this creepy or what! There was a trailer with some Beauty and the Beast theme going on. When I first approached it, I thought the doll things were two little kids making out--total WTF/double-take moment.

Hope you enjoy these shots from my first ever SMS Car Show--the largest gathering of Saleens in the world!

Extreme Dimensions Open House 09/17/11

Extreme Dimensions, Fullerton

I'm a bit late on posting this because there were actually two car shows last Saturday and I had a ton of pictures to go through, but here are my shots from the Extreme Dimensions open house that went down last weekend.

There was a huge lot (and warehouse) filled with cars, in addition to food, vendors, raffle prizes and whatnot. I was stoked when I got there because there were a lot of cars that I hadn't seen before, like the MR2's, the pink IS 300 and the Integra with the South Park on the underside of the hood (LOL). There was also a super cute Scion xA with pink Hello Kitty decals, and pink wheels with multicolored lug nuts--really like!!!!

We took a look at the vendors as well, and one of them had the Hello Kitty exhaust tip! I hadn't seen those in person before. NRG Innovations had really cool holographic booklets sitting on their table, as well as the ball shift knob shown above. I wanted to touch it, but I was afraid of leaving fingerprints haha. I really want a nail polish that color!

Nails Did: Miss Wax

This week's nail art was inspired by several pieces from Miss Wax--one of the dopest accessory lines of all time.

Since 2006, Miss Wax has been pushing creative boundaries of the jewelry industry with unique pieces that cater to ladies who refuse to conform. Drawing inspiration from street culture and trends, Miss Wax combines art with fashion to embody fierce concepts--revolutionizing statement pieces of jewelry as we know it.

I used a messload of colors for this look, and I actually had to mix polishes to get some of the colors I needed. I think I should have chosen different base colors so that the look is more cohesive, but there's always my next design for that! The middle finger and pinky designs are my favorite (:

From the Vault: Butter London Queen Vic

Butter London Queen Vic

Here is two coats of Queen Vic topped with Seche Vite Top Coat. It's the first Butter London polish I've ever tried, and I'm very impressed! The consistency was perfect--not too thick or runny, and it gave me a perfectly opaque and creamy finish. I probably could have gotten away without a top coat since the application was perfect and shiny without one, but I added one anyway just for the sake of it.

As for the color, it's not something I'd typically go for, but I wanted to change it up since fall is here. This rich, creamy, berry shade is the kind of color I think of when I think of fall. It's kind of weird seeing such a sophisticated color on my nails for once. Makes me feel all lady-like and grown-up-ish.

Kicks Inspired Makeup: Green and Orange Adidas Game Mid

A couple of weeks ago, I found this really cool green eyeshadow at Ulta. It caught my attention because I don't have anything like it in my collection. It's a matte green that's rather powdery and a bit difficult to work with, but for only two bucks, I wasn't expecting much anyway.
Just in case you're wondering, it's Knock Out, from the Essence line.

I wasn't sure what color I wanted to pair it up with (blue probably would have been a more obvious choice), but then I remembered these Adidas Game Mids that I saw a while back. I never picked them up because I'm not a fan of orange in general, but I thought it'd make a unique color combo on the eyes.
For this look, I basically blended the green into the crease, then popped orange onto the lids. I wanted to keep the look light so I skipped liner and layered on a coat of mascara instead. Disregarding the other minor steps, that's pretty much it!

Product breakdown:
-Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil, Black brown
-Shiseido Eyebrow Compact, Deep brown
-Urban Decay Primer Potion to prime
-Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy (used to intensify orange)
-Sephora Edun palette, Contrast (orange for lid, blended above crease, yellow for browbone highlight)
-Essence eyeshadow, Knock Out (green in crease, and outer lower lash line)
-Maybelline Waterproof Lash Stiletto Voluptuous, Very black

Butter Babies

Butter London Wallis, Victoriana, Macbeth, Queen Vic

Did anyone take advantage of the Butter London Buy One Get One Free promotion going on at Ulta yesterday? Cause I sure did!
I got there yesterday morning right when they opened, so that I could have first pick at all the colors I wanted. Unfortunately, several of the colors were already sold out, but not Wallis! That was the one I wanted the most. I had a hard time picking out the other colors, because none of them really stood out to me. I mean, they're all nice, but I wanted something that was worth $14 nice, and not easily dupeable... if you know what I mean.
Anyway, here are the ones I picked. I can't wait to try them out. Swatches coming soon!

*10/15/11 Colors have been updated with swatch links. Enjoy!*

From the Vault: China Glaze Blue Sparrow

China Glaze Blue Sparrow

Here's a swatch using two coats of China Glaze Blue Sparrow, with no top coat. I saw it at the store and thought it sounded cool because the label says that it's a neon (even though it's not bright enough to be a neon, in  my opinion). It has the typical matte(?) finish of a neon polish, but appears rather gritty once dried because it contains shimmer/glitter particles. The grittiness helped it stay on my nails without chipping, but it also required some effort to remove. It looked a lot nicer in the bottle than on my nails, so I'm gonna have to try it out with a top coat next time!
