Happy Halloween!!!!!

Here's something I came up with the other day, in the spirit of Halloween! I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out, although the brows could have been more defined.

Product breakdown:
-Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil, Black brown
-Shiseido Eyebrow Compact, Deep brown
-Urban Decay Primer Potion to prime
-Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy (used to intensify orange)
-Sleek Circus palette (orange for lid, black and yellow for crease)
-Wet n Wild Color Icon Trio, Dancing in the Clouds (browbone color for browbone and inner highlight)
-Urban Decay 24/7 Pencil, Zero (for waterline)
-Maybelline Waterproof Volum' Express The Falsies Mascara, Very black

Oh, and before I end this post...

Sneaker Spotlight: Nike 6.0 Bold Berry Dunk High

IMG_5893

Nike Bold Berry 6.0 Dunks

This is a more recent pick-up that I've really been wanting to showcase. I discovered these kicks via sneakHerbox's Sneak of the Week feature, and literally ordered them right after I read through that post. I was kind of stuck in a sneaker drought because I hadn't seen anything that really screamed my name until these came around. The bright colorway... the subtle reptile print... the different, complementing textures... how could I resist?!

There is one thing that caught me by surprise when I finally received them in the mail though, which is why I think this sneaker deserved its own post.
Additionally, it's something that the product pictures did not pick up...

The grey panels are duochrome!!!

Depending on the lighting or the angle you look at the shoe, the grey either picks up a lot of greenish shimmer (check the third picture between the laces and the toebox perforations), or it emits a pinkish purple glow (edges of the toebox in the last picture). It's pretty amazing. The pictures only give you a glimpse of the effect, because the duochrome was rather difficult to capture on camera.

I think this is something all lacquerheads can definitely appreciate (;

From the Vault: Petites Color Fever Peach Blush

Petites Color Fever Peach Blush

Is it a coincidence that this polish is called Peach Blush? Maybe... but I don't think so!
I seriously think that the makers of this polish had the highly revered Nars Orgasm blush in mind when concocting this particular shade. After all, there are already so many blush dupes on the market for this color, so why not a polish dupe?

This color really captures the essence of Nars Orgasm in polish form, since it's a peachy color that flashes gold depending on the angle and lighting. The color of the polish itself is so-so for me, but since the formula did leave some noticeable streaks upon application, I doubt I'll be reaching for this color again anytime soon.

Personally, I liked it a lot better in the bottle than on my nails. Are any of you guys feeling this color?

Sacramento Sunset

Sacramento, CA

I missed so many good photo opportunities in Sacramento, but here are some shots that I got a chance to take during my visit. The setting wasn't as awesome as the previous day, but I'm grateful for getting some shots in.

I miss the scenery and Skippy, the sweetest dog I ever met

OC Auto Show 2011

The OC Auto Show is an annual event produced by Motor Trends, featuring mainly new vehicles and exotics. There is also a ton of special attractions, making it an event appropriate for all ages.

To be honest, this isn't my favorite car event to attend because exotics are usually the same, and most new models aren't that exciting to me. That's why the JDM scene drew me in--I love seeing all the unique things that drivers have done to their cars, setting them apart from all the other cars out there.

Anyway, we decided to check out the OC Auto Show on a whim this year since the student discount got us in for five bucks! Not bad, considering there was still lots to see and do there (:
These pictures are from a couple of weeks ago, by the way. It somehow got lost in my sea of drafts and scheduled posts!

Nails Did: Save the Boobies!!!!!

As you may know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month! It's an annual campaign taken on by major breast cancer organizations to increase awareness of this terrible disease. The campaign includes support for survivors as well as those who are affected by the disease... our mothers, our sisters, our neighbors, our friends.
Women get diagnosed with breast cancer more than any other type of cancer, so it's important to educate oneself about the signs and symptoms for early detection.

In spirit of Breast Cancer Awareness month, here's a pinked out mani featuring the pink ribbon. How have you gotten involved this month?

Rainbow Eyes

Not gonna lie, I intended this look to be for my Decade Highs! But of course, magic happened when I blended the primary-ish colors together, so I ended up with a rainbow on my lids.

I'm sure this look would go with a couple of my rainbow-ed out sneakers, but I have something else planned for them... so here's a rainbow eye, no kicks attached.

Looks like this make me wish I had a bigger lid so that the colors don't disappear altogether when I open my eyes.

Product breakdown:
-Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil, Black brown
-Shiseido Eyebrow Compact, Deep brown
-Urban Decay Primer Potion to prime
-NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil, Milk (used as a base for lid colors)
-Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy (used to intensify lid colors)
-Sleek Acid palette (neon yellow for inner lid)
-Sleek Curacao palette, Singapore Sling (pink for outer V)
-Wet n Wild Color Icon Trio, Fly Me To the Moon (blue used for crease and lower lashline, sparkly white for inner highlight)
-Wet n Wild Color Icon Palette, Blue Had Me At Hello (right browbone color for browbone highlight, right crease color to deepen crease color)
-MAC Fluidline, Blacktrack to line upper lid and waterline
-Maybelline Waterproof XXL Pro Curl Mascara, Very black

Cougar Attack... RAWR!

Wet n Wild Cougar Attack + Wet n Wild Black Creme

So at the Extreme Dimensions meet I went to some time ago, I noticed this one black car with orange speckles. And it reminded me of a polish I picked up recently--Wet n Wild Cougar Attack.

Cougar Attack is a very dense copper glitter that's part of the On The Prowl collection. It can appear orange at a quick glance, even though it's copper-ish. Depending on how much polish you pick up on the brush, you can control the opacity of the glitter. I used one coat (decent amount--not too thick nor thin) in the swatches above.

It looks as though the glitter is dispensed in a brown base, but I'll have to swatch it separately to see it for myself, when I'm not dreading the glitter removal process...

I wasn't feeling this polish when I decided to put it on my nails last night, because I'm not quite ready to give up my brights yet. I've really come to like it though, and it makes me want to pull out my other vampy shades for fall (:

New Kicks... Sort of?

I finally got my sneaker earrings from Amara! I found out about them when I saw her post here. Being the sneaker freak that I am, of course I had to cop myself a pair. It took so long because there was an issue with shipment the first time around, but they arrived safely and they're all mine now (:

I was pleasantly surprised to see how detailed they are. I was expecting the whole thing to be made of one type of material, but the laces are actually string, and there's a piece of velcro holding the ankle strap down on these AF1's. I was hesitant about ordering these because I was unsure of the weight, but they're really light! It's awesome, I don't notice the weight on my ears and I don't have to worry about them stretching my piercing.

Wear the Rainbow

I have a predilection for Adidas track jackets.
Recently, I picked up the orange one so that I could have all the colors. It's so fluorescent that it makes my other bright ones look dull.

Kicks Inspired Makeup: Green & Black Creative Recreation

Even though I do plenty of colorful eyeshadow combos just for fun, here's one that I've actually worn out. I wore this one to my friend's birthday earlier this year.
Since it was a special occasion, of course I had to do a sneaker match-up! I paired this look with these green and black Galow Highs. My technique has definitely improved since, due to capturing (and critiquing) the looks on my camera, so here's the amplified version of my green and black smokey eye!

Product breakdown:
-Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil, Black brown
-Shiseido Eyebrow Compact, Deep brown
-Urban Decay Primer Potion to prime
-Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy (used to intensify green)
-Urban Decay Graffiti (lid color)
-Urban Decay Zero (outer V & crease)
-Sleek Acid Palette (black to deepen outer V & crease)
-Wet n Wild Blue Had  Me At Hello (uppermost left color for browbone and inner corner highlight)
-MAC Fluidline, Blacktrack
-Maybelline Waterproof Lash Stiletto Voluptuous, Very black

From the Vault: Butter London Macbeth

Butter London Macbeth

Macbeth is another Butter London polish I picked up during the Buy One Get One Free sale at Ulta. It's not straight up red, but rather, a pinkish red. I prefer to wear pinkish reds on my nails because I think true reds make my skintone look icky.

In the pictures above, I used two coats over a base, followed by my Seche Vite top coat. There is some slight visible nail line in certain angles (if you look really, really closely). Other than that, this polish is pretty much perfect!

This 350Z from Formula D had me completely awestruck, so I felt the need to do a separate post for it. The paint job was so unique--white with super fine shimmer that flashed green at certain angles. It also had glitter on the wheels! I'm not sure who the owner of the car was, but props to whoever modded this one out!
